What do we really see individually ?
How do we respond –emotionally- to a collective,
objective understanding ?
Beauty in the eye of the beholder is such a strenuous
concept to deliver factitiously to. I keep it simple
by speaking from directly within my heart. Where everything
is beautiful, I cannot fail. Only by allowing the
impulsive, the emotional, the real- to be as an experience
desired, can I discover what we all actually see.
Often we fail to acknowledge on a personal, subjective
level the reality of our environment. This artwork
is about the journey of experiences, some fleeting,
some lasting, some effusive, while other impressions
may remain quite vague. It is this experiential journey
I wish to unfold for my audience.
My artwork is the most authentic form available in
communicating to the world around me. My exploration
of various subject matters (Animals, Nature, abstract
compositions) as a visual medium offers me the opportunity
to travel within my stimulating, inner world. The
journey of realization is intrinsically emotional,
authentic, a purely intellectual response to the fabric
of life. My technique of expression is emotionally
direct. The colors flow, lines delineate, form and
shapes blossom beyond the height and breadth of the
paper. In bringing this tangible to paper gives my
journey authentication. To the viewer, perhaps an
emotional understanding beyond color, shape and stroke
evolves. One without the other would either be impossible,
or quite meaningless. My audience sees through me
what I am capable of offering. It is a pure, direct,
sensuous and genuine communication.
Stimulus and response are two of my favorite playmates.
Together we are inspired to step into, and immerse
ourselves into that creative trapeze between heaven
and earth. I swing, release and fly, hoping to find
a new grip at the end of my arc. Sometimes scary,
always exciting, we bond in what is mutable. Between
the real and the imagined my art frolics, and the
viewer is swept up. This process of personal observation
is my life. As defined as each stroke of my brush,
each crayon line or charcoal smudge, here is a liberation
of control. Freedom and the creative expression are
entwined forces. Nature wants to be experienced, engaged
and liberated, not necessarily just defined.
This paper at first becomes a transient process,
and I cannot -as originator- explain exactly where
I am being taken as I engage in this broad, purely
communicative effort. We simply arrive at different
perspectives. From where we started it is now different.
The theme of all my paintings is exuberance, either
through the portraiture of majestic creatures, or
the simple caricature of a landscape. Together we
delve into light, shape and the innermost interactive
venues.
The process of my experiences brought to paper is
my perception of life. This refers to a constant theme,
realized within all of my art. The exploration of
a moment, expanded outward to touch my audience by
what we feel (in a different manner of perception),
-is this the authentic reality? I don’t know,
but it is so much fun getting there! What each of
us sees is beautifully different, intrinsically personal,
and assuredly emotional. This has to be revealed beyond
what the eye carries inward. A true place for the
soul varies within each of us. If my viewer walks
away instilled with a fresh, invigorated and surprise
feeling of enjoyment, then these pigments I have joined
on this paper, then this process is successful.
